The R&A is the governing body of world golf (in partnership with the US Golf Association). 

Founded in 1754, the R&A has a responsibility for the rules of golf, and for policing the standards and framework which supports the game globally (via a network of 159 national federations, across 144 countries). It represents the finest traditions of the game, and is committed to making golf more accessible and inclusive, and growing golf’s appeal and participation globally. The R&A has committed £200M of funding over 10+ years to the development of the game.
